Swansea City AFC Community Trust is excited to announce that elite Ladies referee Rebecca Welsh will be joining our Online Kicks Club on Monday evening.

The Premier League Kicks initiative uses the power of football and value of sports participation to help youngsters in some of the most high-need areas across England and Wales.

This will be the 13th workshop of the online programme – devised after local lockdown restrictions led to the cancellation of several outside football sessions.

Welch is England’s highest-ranked female referee – taking charge of the Women’s FA Cup final last season – and was recently promoted to UEFA’s elite category of officials.

She will be delivering a workshop that will introduce participants to what refereeing is and how they can get involved, as well as sharing her own journey from grassroots level to elite international football.

Jamie Thomas, Premier League Kicks Coordinator at the Trust, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming Rebecca to Online Kicks.

“The online refereeing workshop has been very popular during the lockdown period.

“This has given participants the opportunity to find out just how hard it is to become a referee.

“It has also allowed them to explore an alternative pathway within football.

“Hopefully, our young participants will be able to gain a greater insight into refereeing.”

Over 80 Junior Jacks were present at last week’s Online Kicks Club, where multiple World Record holder Ash Randall joined Lee Trundle to deliver a wonderful freestyle masterclass.
