Graham Potter has said thank you to Swansea City’s fans for the part they played in his maiden Liberty victory.

The Swans secured a hard-earned win against Preston North End in Potter’s first home game since taking charge in the summer.

And the Swans boss reckons the Jack Army should take a bow after seeing their team make it six points from six in the Championship this season.

“I can only thank the supporters because their help and support was amazing,” Potter said.

“They just want a team that’s committed and doing their best, and I think they saw the effort the players put in last Saturday.

“We were not perfect against Preston and want to improve.

“But it’s nice to have that foundation of spirit, attitude and togetherness between the players and supporters which we saw at the weekend.”

Having seen off Preston and Sheffield United, the Swans will attempt to make it three wins from three in the second tier when they go to Birmingham City this Friday night.

Potter feels his youthful team have plenty of room for improvement – but is taking heart from the determination and desire they have shown in the opening stages of 2018-19.

“We weren’t as good as we’d like to be with the ball against Preston, but you have to give the opposition credit as well,” he added.

“We had to fight and dig in. We saw a committed performance from a group of players that want to play for Swansea City.

“It’s a learning process. We had a lot of young players out there and they’ll get better with experience.”
