Laudrup: "We deserved more"
Michael Laudrup believes his side deserved more than a point after Swansea drew 0-0 with West Ham United at the Liberty Stadium.
Despite a strong second half display from the Swans, Laudrup's side were unable to find the breakthrough goal, with Jussi Jaaskelainen making a couple of superb saves to prevent his side from leaving the Liberty with nothing.
The point takes Swansea up to ninth in the Barclays Premier League, but Laudrup believes that his side could have come away with the win.
"I think we deserved more," said Laudrup. "Jaaskelainen made two or three fantastic saves, and you can't do anything about that.
"I knew it would be very difficult because they had huge success playing like this against Tottenham.
"We knew they would play with six in midfield - without a striker - and it is difficult to play against.
"As well as the counter-attack, they are also good from set-pieces, so they caused us some problems in the first half from these.
"But even without playing at our best, we controlled the game. They were very deep.
"In the end, because of two or three great saves from Jaaskelainen, they got what they wanted."
The Swans were also denied a late penalty after the ball appeared to strike the arm of Joe Cole inside the area.
Despite acknowledging the fact that the referee or linesman only has a second to make a decision, the Great Dane says that, on another day, the penalty could have been given.
"There was a lot of emotion at the end about the penalty not given," explained Laudrup.
"The referee or the linesman has only one second to see it, but the linesman was in a good position.
"When a player has his arm up and the ball touches it, normally it is a penalty.
"However, it is done, and we move on."
Now the Swans will start to prepare for the first all-Welsh Barclays Premier League encounter, and Laudrup feels his side are in a good position, going into the fixture.
"I think it will be a little different against Cardiff. They will be at home.
"It will be a very special game. It means a lot to a lot of people - especially the fans.
"A lot of people want to talk about this game, and the players understand how important it is for the fans.
"We have eleven points now, which is more or less what I expected. Overall, I feel we are in a good position.
"The positives today was to see Ashley Williams and Pablo Hernandez return, and Jonjo should be back by mid-week, so that leaves us only with Ben injured.
"However, I am told that Ben Davies is better than expected, so maybe in over a week's time we will have everybody back."
