'Let's show what we can do'
Oli McBurnie is hoping Swansea City can show what they are capable of when they kick off the 2018-19 season at Sheffield United.
A new era begins for the Swans as the club start life under boss Graham Potter.
A number of players have said farewell since relegation from the Premier League, while four summer recruits are in contention to make their Swans debuts at Bramall Lane.
And McBurnie says the new-look Swans are relishing the return of competitive football.
“We are looking forward to getting started,” the striker said.
“We are all feeling positive. We have got a few new signings on board and we are ready to go.
“It would be massive for us to get a good start. Sheffield United away is a tough game first up, but we’re live on TV and we want to show what we are capable of.
“On a personal note I am feeling good and it would be lovely to get on the scoresheet. There is no better way to start a new season.”
McBurnie played against Sheffield United as recently as April, when he was on loan in the second tier with Barnsley.
The 22-year-old scored for the Tykes as they came back from 2-1 down to beat the Blades 3-2 at Oakwell.
“We got a late winner, but they are a team who play good football,” McBurnie added.
“For us it will be good test and a chance to see where we are compared to a good Championship team.”
