"This is our best run of form, but we want more"

Graham Potter believes his Swansea City side head into tonight's clash with Birmingham City (7.45pm) in their best form of the season, but feels there is still more to come.

The Swans host Garry Monk's Blues looking to extend their six-match unbeaten run and keep themselves in touch with the race for the Championship play-off places.

Swansea will start the game 11th in the table, six points outside the top six with 18 games still remaining in the season.

Birmingham - who Potter acknowledges should have taken all three points when the teams met back in August - are only a solitary point and two places adrift of the Swans, and Monk will be hoping to end a five-match winless run in all competitions.

But, having seen his side win four of their last five games in all competitions, Potter believes Swansea are in good shape.

"I think we are in our best form, the results would probably say that and our performances have been quite consistent I think," he said.

"You have a first half of the season where we need to try to find out as much as we can about the squad.

"Players need to feel they are close to the starting XI and I think we've managed to get that.

"At the same time you're learning, you're making mistakes, working things out and hopefully improving as a result."

However, the 43-year-old is keen to outline that he is fully aware Swansea are far from the finished article despite their positive run of form.

And he wants to see his squad take further steps, keep learning and keep working hard to get even better.

"Sometimes I think people want you to come in, wave your magic wand around and everything is perfect," said Potter.

"I'm sorry I'm not that good. I have to try my best, make mistakes and then put my hands up, take responsibility and move forward. I'd like the players to do that as well.

"Through that process I think you get improvement. Then hopefully that improvement can stay consistent, but we haven't got anything cracked that's for sure."
