Potter pleased with a point
Graham Potter declared himself pleased with a point after Swansea City’s goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.
The Swans huffed and puffed as they battled their way to a third clean sheet of the season.
But they struggled to create much on a day when there were few clear-cut chances at either end.
Once again, the Swans were not helped by injuries, with Jay Fulton (sickness) and Bersant Celina (ankle) forced off at half-time.
As a result, Potter was pleased to come away from the game with something.
“In the context of the game, we are happy with a point,” said Potter.
“I don’t think we deserved anything more than that. It was a battling performance in which we overcame a bit of adversity.
“We had patches of good play but probably not enough as the home team to be really satisfied.
“But we also have to give credit to Nottingham Forest, who came here and did well.
“For us it’s a clean sheet and a point. We will probably play better and lose, so we take this and move on to our game against Stoke on Tuesday.”
Yan Dhanda forced a smart save from Forest keeper Costel Pantilimon, while the big Romanian also denied Joel Asoro after a sweet Swans move.
At the other end, Erwin Mulder saved from Ben Osborn and Gil Dias.
“Forest did well stopping our build-up play – they were aggressive in that,” Potter added.
“We are not just going to walk through teams. We had some moments, but so did Nottingham Forest.
“We had to deal with some disruption – losing Jay and Bersant at half-time was a body blow for us. We had to adapt again and felt in the second half that our best opportunity was going to be on the counter-attack.
“With this game and Millwall, we have had two battling performances where we’ve been up against it and we’ve come away with four points.
“The challenge now is to improve our overall play.”
Potter was pleased to see Mulder secure a clean sheet, adding: “People say the Championship is a grind and you don’t always play the way you want to play.
“The great thing for us is that we have seen those periods out and we have another clean sheet.
“You will be up against it in some games. Having the ability to get something when that happens is important.”
