Graham Potter is planning to remain cautious with Jefferson Montero as the winger builds towards a Swansea City comeback.

Montero has been on the sidelines since picking up a thigh injury in training a month ago.

The wideman has received a boost after a scan showed he is heading in the right direction in his recovery.

But the Swans will consider Montero’s previous muscle injury problems before pitching him back into first-team action.

“Jeff is progressing well,” said the Swans boss.

“In the first few weeks after he suffered the injury we were careful with him.

“He has now had another scan to confirm everything is okay and that’s came back very positive.

“We are anticipating that in the next couple of weeks he should be back within the group, but we will be careful.

“We want to make sure he comes back in as safely as possible.”

Montero has proved in just four appearances this season what an influence he can be.

The 29-year-old produced game-changing displays after coming off the bench in the wins at Sheffield United and Millwall.
