Swansea City Under-18s returned to winning ways with a fine win over Sheffield Wednesday Under-18s in the Professional Development League.

The Swans trailed early after a stunning strike from Danny Wassell, but first-half goals from Iwan Morgan and Corey Hurford restored the visitors' lead, before substitute Kyrell Wilson secured all three points.

The Sheffield Wednesday side featured four players who had been involved in Sheffield Wednesday Under-23s 2-2 draw with Swansea City Under-23s just five days earlier.

And the first chance of the game fell to the home side, a Murthadha Al-Jahadmy strike from the edge of the box testing Tyler Evans early.

It would be Wednesday who broke the deadlock, Wassell flicking the ball up before hitting a superb strike into the top-right corner.

But the Swans would grow into the game midway through the second half, with Hurford sending Morgan through, but his effort struck the side netting.

Hurford then had the chance to equalise after he was sent through by Dan Watts, but the forward's low effort was turned around the post.

But, from the resulting corner, Filip Lissah’s header was only cleared as far as Hurford, who cannoned a strike off the underside of the crossbar and in to level proceedings.

Just two minutes later the Swans were ahead, Morgan’s fantastic touch from Seb Dabrowski’s ball allowing the forward a simple finish to make it 2-1 before the break.

The Swans had two chances to make it three right after the break, first Hurford’s excellent run opened the Owls defence, but his effort was dragged wide.

Minutes later, Watts’ excellent pressing won the ball back in the Sheffield Wednesday box, but Hurford was denied by the onrushing goalkeeper.

Lissah’s cross was handled in the box by Cian Flannery, with IMorgan stepping up to the spot. But his low penalty was met by a strong hand from Pierce Charles to keep the game at 2-1.

The Swans would finally find their third however, substitute Wilson tucking an effort into the bottom right after a great ball through by Hurford to seal the three points.
