Report | Swansea City U18s 1 Bristol City U18s 3

Swansea City Under-18s were beaten by Bristol City as they suffered their first defeat of the Professional Development League season.

Although Anthony Wright’s side produced a positive performance at Landore, they were made to pay for a couple of costly errors that were capitalised upon by their opponents.

Fresh from their 3-1 victory over Cardiff City on the opening day, the young Swans made a bright start against the Robins and were unfortunate to fall behind.

Nevertheless, they responded well and equalised following a well-worked move that resulted in Josh Thomas scoring for a second game running.

The hosts had chances to edge their noses in front after the break, but their failure to take them proved costly as the visitors punished a couple of defensive errors to secure the points.

“We controlled large parts of the game and the players were disappointed with the result due to the goals they gave away,” said under-18s' coach Wright.

“I felt we actually played better this week than in the win against Cardiff.

“Dealing with a team that sits in blocks with numbers behind the ball, and dealing with the long ball is something we have to adapt to with work on the training ground.”
