Spirited comeback for Swans U18s

13th January

10-man Swansea City U18s put in a spirited performance to battle back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with table-topping QPR on Saturday.

The Swans went behind seven minutes before half-time when Ben Beckles opened the scoring, and they faced a further setback when Jordan Sherman was sent off for violent conduct, midway through the second-half.

But, despite their numerical disadvantage, the dismissal of Sherman seemed to galvanise the  Swans, who battled back to equalise through Kyle Copp.

After the game, Youth Team Coach Cameron Toshack was delighted with the efforts of the young Swans.

"We played really well against a team who are top of the league and haven't been beaten for some time," said Toshack.

"We showed great character after going a man down. All of the players did exactly what we asked of them, so it was very, very pleasing.

"It was a clear sign of the recent improvement by the group, when you consider that we lost 3-1 against QPR towards the start of this season."
