The Swans Community Trust has announced the winners of the Spring round of SwansAid grants.

The winning organisations applied for funding through the club's grant-giving pot – SwansAid – earlier in the season, and they will receive their grants this month.

On offer were grants of up to £2,000, and one large grant of up to £10,000.

Additionally, the panel gave out 10 sets of sports kit to sports organisations.

All of the grants will be used for great community projects that support young and/or disabled people.

They will be used to fund coaching licences, replace skateboard ramps at a local skatepark, provide poles for pole-vaulting and to replace school playground line markings.

“The Trust is delighted to announce that another group of organisations have been awarded SwansAid funding,” said Helen Elton, the Trust's head of community.

“Securing funding are Calsonic Kansei Swissvalley AFC, Friends of Pennard Primary, Swansea Harriers Pole Vault and the Community Urban Sports Project (CUSP), who each have very different plans for the grants.

“The successful organisations support children, young people or disabled people to be more active.

“These grants will be put towards a variety of uses including purchasing new equipment, funding new projects and sessions or to finance training.”

Now heading into its fifth year, SwansAid has distributed more than £175,000 to a variety of charities and community organisations across South West Wales.

A number of local youth teams will receive sports kits for next season. These include Bryncoch FC, Cimla AFC, Dunvant Dragons, Margam Youth Centre, Monkton Swifts, Pembrey Juniors, Penclawdd, Pontardulais RFC, Port Tennant Colts Juniors and Wallich Warriors.

Applications for the autumn round of SwansAid funding will be taken from September 2018.
