Swansea City is pleased to announce the formation of a dementia consultation group in association with Alzheimer's Society Cymru.

At the start of the 2021-22 season, supporters were asked to nominate a chosen charity for the club to support, with the overwhelming response being Alzheimer’s Society Cymru.

The club has supported the charity with fundraising efforts through a bucket collection at the Swansea.com Stadium, while members of the club's Former Players' Association, club staff and head coach Russell Martin took part in a memory walk back in October.

It’s never been a more important time to support the Alzheimer’s Society, after the charity launched its Sport United Against Dementia campaign, which is bringing the sporting world together to create real and lasting change for fans, players, and former players.

The campaign aims to make the sporting industry more dementia-friendly and break down the stigma of dementia, so people with dementia can continue to enjoy watching sports, improve and provide expert support and fund vital research to better understand the connections between sport and dementia.

As part of our collaboration, Swansea City aims to be established as a dementia-friendly organisation by the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign.

To help us on our journey, Swansea City are looking to form a working consultation group, with the objective of further understanding the needs of people living with dementia and those who care for them. Those who are selected to form part of this consultation group, will be asked to review all aspects of our customer journey – from initial contact through to the match day itself.

We are asking those who may be able to support us with this working group, to register their interest before midnight on Thursday, February 3.

We will then select and contact a number of those people, to join us for the consultation group at midday on Thursday, February 10. Attendees of that working group will be offered complimentary tickets to either our Bournemouth or Coventry fixture, to help us with our review.

To register your interest, please click below. Please note this does not secure your place within the working group as spaces will be limited, however we will be in contact to inform you if you have been selected or not.
