U18s end year with Fulham win

21st December

Swansea City Under-18s ended 2017 with a 2-1 victory in Premier League South to end Fulham’s six-game unbeaten run at Motspur Park.

The academy side took the lead on 16 minutes when Rhydian Williams crossed for midfielder Kees de Boer to head past George Wickens.

Fulham were awarded a penalty just before half-time, but Swans keeper Nathan Shepperd read Joe Felix’s spot-kick to save the captain’s effort and maintain the lead at the break.

The Swans continued to defend well in the second half as Felix fired over the bar before Ryan de Havilland saw his effort saved by Shepperd.

The Swans were reduced to 10 men in the final 10 minutes as midfielder Marc Walsh received a second yellow card for a foul on Daniel Martin.

But they doubled their lead in the 87th minute as Jack Fox found fellow substitute Craig Davies and he fired home.

Fulham were awarded a second penalty in stoppage time with Nicolas Santos-Clase firing home a consolation from 12 yards seconds before the end.

The under-18s' fifth league win of the season keeps them fifth in Premier League South.
