Under-18s earn first victory of the season

23rd September

Swansea City Under-18s earned their first league win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Birmingham.
The only goal of the game came on 37 minutes when good work from Owain Jones saw him turn away from a defender before finding Steve Fallon, who produced a fine finish from inside the box.
The visitors started with five first-year scholars, including 16-year-old Liam Cullen who played the full 90 minutes.
And coach Cameron Toshack was delighted with the application of his players against what he described as "excellent" opposition.
"The players showed real character and stuck together," he said. "Birmingham are a good side and have put a lot of goals past some teams this season.
"But we were disciplined in our approach and were patient throughout the game and had far more efforts on goal and shots on target.
"If Saturday's performance is anything to go by then we are certainly on the right track."
Next up for the Under-18s is a home game with Coventry at Fairwood on Saturday (September 27), kick off at 11.30am.
