Young Swans sign new deals

30th May

Swansea City youngsters Causso Darame and Mael Davies have signed new deals at the club while three others have been offered extensions.

Portuguese winger Darame and full-back Davies have penned their first professional contracts with one-year deals. The pair impressed in the club’s under-18s squad this season and will now step up to U23 level next term.
New one-year contracts have been offered to striker Jordan Garrick, goalkeeper Lewis Thomas and full-back Aaron Lewis, with the trio helping the U23s to the Premier League 2 Division 2 title and the Premier League Cup.
Midfielder Jack Evans, who will join Thomas and Lewis in Wales U20s’ squad for the forthcoming Toulon tournament, has already committed to a new deal which will keep him at the club until June 2018 while Josh Sheehan has been offered a monthly contract.
The 22-year-old midfielder is continuing his rehab from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, having spent time on loan at Newport County this season which saw him score seven times in 25 appearances as the Exiles managed to avoid relegation from League Two.
Meanwhile, eight players will leave the club when their contracts expire.
Goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel, who played a pivotal role in the club’s League Cup success in 2013, exits the Liberty after spending six years at the Swans.
Marvin Emnes also departs the club, with the Dutch forward seeing his third spell at the club come to an end.
The 28-year-old had spent two loan stints with the Swans before joining permanently from Middlesbrough in July 2014.
Emnes scored four goals in 37 appearances during a loan spell with Blackburn this season, which ended in relegation from the Championship for the Ewood Park club.
Liam Shephard, Josh Vickers, Owain Jones, Tom Dyson and Tom Holland will also leave the club, while Alex Samuel has agreed to join Stevenage.
Everyone at Swansea City would like to thank the players mentioned above for their service to the club and wish them well in the future.
